Children (6+)
Roblox or Minecraft? Neither? That’s cool! I would love for you to tell me all about what your favorite game, show, toy, activity, or anything really, is. Let’s play pretend with some of the toys in my office or have a monkey noodle fight. Maybe we can even play with all of the really cool play-doh colors and create something super magical. All of these things and more will most likely happen in a session with kids, while I sneakily (the only time I’m deceptive, promise!) work with them on understanding and expressing their really big emotions! Therapy with kids is a lot of play, and that’s okay, because play is their language and their preferred element! Totally normal!
Teenagers
Choice or Force? Are your parents making you do this totally stupid thing where you talk about feelings? Ew. Who likes those anyway? Well, we absolutely do not have to talk about any of that. Honest. Maybe you just wanna recap the latest Netflix show you’ve binged or vent about your crush leaving you on delivered (so rude). Or, maybe you just want us to listen to music. I’d love to know what’s on your playlist. Therapy with teens is typically very similar to therapy with kids. It can take time to build that trust and rapport (remember that word?) before the real work can begin, and that’s alright because I’m just honored to be on this journey with your teen!
Young Adults
Life.....what a strange and unpredictable thing to navigate in your early twenties. Fresh out of college, and you're still unsure of what you want out of your life even though you've just spent 2 to 4 years supposedly figuring out just that. Or, maybe school wasn't your thing, so you've just been working and hustling, but you don't necessarily know what you're working towards. There are so many unknown variables in life, and many of them seem to multiple during young adulthood! I love working with this population to help them figure out who they are and what life can look like with clarity and direction!
Adults
Believe it or not, adults can require just as much rapport building as kids. Sometimes even more. Wherever you are with your comfort level is where I will meet you. There may be days where you come in and want to spend our time together discussing the exchange you had in the grocery store or an unexpected conversation with a family member. Whatever it is, I'm all ears! Wherever you want us to start is exactly where we will start. I always tell clients that I go where they go. Adults may come in and be ready for us to start unpacking their struggles from day one, but there are other times where they may need extra space to build rapport too. Whatever the case, I’m here to assist!
